I studied Francisco de Zurbarán’s religious paintings, addressing my homosexuality as a Catholic child and delving into male nudity by crafting a contemporary version of a monk and Saint Sebastian in erotic and nude photographs.

The Catholic Church condemns homosexuality, creating an internal conflict that shaped my identity and spiritual journey. Zurbarán’s depictions of saints and martyrs, often featuring austere, vulnerable male figures, resonated deeply with me. Their expressions of suffering and divine ecstasy mirrored my own struggle to reconcile faith with self-acceptance.
